Fabregas wants more trophies

 Cesc Fabregas

There have been a few reports around that Fabregas is not interested in a move to Real Madrid and as usual the media reports tend to turn whatever a player says about another club into a transfer story!

Fabregas has said the he wants to stay at Arsenal and he wants to win trophies this season with Arsenal: “To be four seasons without winning any titles would be too much for me. Real Madrid are the favourites to win La Liga this year.”

All that has been said so far is that Madrid would be interested in Fabregas, like they’ve done with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United…Fabregas says: “I told him that now wasn’t the time to go to Madrid (Calderon).

“That you are wanted by Madrid, one of the biggest teams in history, is important.”

I think Fabregas is absolutely right when hs says that if it wasn’t for the sucess of Ronaldo then Manchester United wouldn’t have won the Premier League or the Champions League.

Of course we all hope more silverware will grace the Emirates stadium this season and I hope the continued club mentallity of bringing in young players rather than buying big brings success this season.

Bringing in good young players is great, but we seem to be selling them as soon as they prove their class, which is not a good strategy…

Wenger says one more midfielder

 Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger says he’s really after one more midfield player following the departures of Flamini, Hleb and Silva this summer. At least it looks like all the speculation surrounding Adebayor’s proposed move to Milan has died down, for now…

Wenger said: “Alex Song is going to the Olympics, while Abou Diaby and Cesc Fabregas have yet to start pre-season.”

“We will need one more body, though there is no special name on the list.”

“If we find a reasonable target then we will do it. We have some time. We have until 31 August.”

Of course Aaron Ramsey’s 2 appearences in pre-season games could mean he starts more Premiership games next season. Wenger commented: “He is in the plans for the new season like all the players today.

“It depends on the performances and their quality and you could see that some young players could be very close to the first team.”

Bye Bye Hleb

At last! Alexander Hleb was in danger of doing a Ronaldo when it comes to making a mountain out of a simple transfer to another football club!

So we say goodbye to Hleb, yeah he was OK, but not all that, and to be honest I’d rather the club have the cash…

As every footballer says, Hlebs move to Barcelona was ‘a dream’. “I love this team, I will give my best and I want to win everything with Barca.” - not heard that one before have we!??

Poor old Hleb just admitted he was tired of playing football AND living in London - perhaps he should have opted for a nice little club by the seaside then! Oh and playing football 3 times a week; poor lad how did he cope!? I’m sorry but I have no sympathy for moaning football players.

Arshavin’s Agent hints at Arsenal

Andrei Arshavin

According to the latest round of reports Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lachter has told Sky Sports that Arshavin loves Wenger and the way Arsenal play attacking football. I hope he’s forgotten about Barcelona and loving them too then!??

It seems to me as though most players use their agents to try and play the ‘I love this football team’ week after week after week. Although, I’m forgetting this is all tabloid and media speculation half the time…However, on the face of it, it looks as though players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrei Arshavin and even Adebayor to a certain extent, change their minds every week. I thought it was Arshavin’s dream to play for Barcelona? At least that’s what he was reported as saying last week!

Don’t get me wrong I’d love him to come to Arsenal and play a few seasons at the Emirates. But why say these stupid things and change your mind every week? Everyone who’s interested in football knows that modern players are in it FOR THE MONEY - please don’t insult us by telling us any different!

Anyway rant over! here’s the story on Skysports.com

Adebayor £3 million a year or quit

According to reports in today’s Sun newspaper Emmanuel Adebayor has been offered £3 million a year to stay with Arsenal.

Apparently this is just half the amount he’s asking for because he wants the same wages as Thierry Henry. Errr what’s that got do with anything!? He’s wasn’t Thierry Henry last time I looked!!

The Sun says that Wenger (along with the rest of the Arsenal supporters) want him to help deliver trophies before commanding a massive salary increase…But is he really worth it anyway?

Hleb hits out at Wenger and Fabregas

I was a little surprised at some of the reaction to this on www.Football365.com but heres the story anyway;

Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb has hit out at manager Arsene Wenger and team-mate Cesc Fabregas as he attempts to engineer a move to Barcelona.

The Belarus international has been seemingly on the brink of a move to Serie A or La Liga all summer but has yet to actually leave the Emirates Stadium.

And Hleb has revealed a rift with both Wenger and team-mate Fabregas.

“My view of how I should be playing didn’t coincide with the manager’s,” he is quoted as saying in The Sun.

“I told him last season I wanted to leave and think he was quite upset about it. But ask him. It may turn out he’s happy to see me go.

“I don’t know where I’ll be next season but I’d prefer Barcelona. It is being negotiated and, hopefully, will be decided soon.”

Hleb has also branded Fabregas “selfish”.

“When we get scoring opportunities, Fabregas is much more selfish than me,” he said. “Given a chance to shoot, he always goes for it - unlike me.”

Some of the Gooner’s comments (I love them!);

“Overated crap. He cant shot like Fabregas so whats he complaining about. Good old Barcalona, They enjoy paying Arsenal over the odds for players then ruining them. Overmars, Henry, Petit, Gio, Silvinho although Hleb can not get ruined as he is already massively average and in the same bracket as the s***e Steed malbronque. Shut up and leave and take Eboue ands Ade with you. We do not want them here anymore. SCUM”

“shame things get messing when money pride and selfishness sets in Hleb has been a good servent to the Arsenal but football like life moves on GOOD ALEXANDER WHERE EVER YOU END UP”

“the very reason your sh*t Hleb is summed up in your statement!!! how many assists did you ave last season?? how many goals?? you’re a sideways pile if over-rated sh*t… The reason you haven’t engineered a move is you ain’t all that pal. if your preference is Barca I’ll drive you there… MUG”

The rest continue along the same lines! And to be honest I agree…come on Hleb get a move on and get OUT! Do everyone a favour…

Wenger confesses to alarming club policy of selling players

This is quite an alarming but truthful assesment by Arsene Wenger of the situation faced by English Premiership clubs, and the current situation at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger

Wenger has said that we’ll probably have to sell star players every season for another 2 decades, at least, because of the finance deal we have committed to for the Emirates staduim and the way the club finances are run. Wenger told News of the World;

“The strategy of the club is to sell every year and to buy less expensive players,”

“We manage at Arsenal to maintain all our football ambitions - national and European - while having to free up - for 17 more years - an annual surplus of £24million to pay for our stadium.”

“The club’s strategy is to favour the policy of youngsters ahead of stars and to count on the collective quality of our game.”

“If I had the power to change anything basic in football, it would be the transfer system which makes mercenaries of players,”

“If they are bad ones, they stay and, if they are good, they think only of leaving.”

“I have fought for them to earn a very good living, but I impose respect for their contract upon them.”

I wonder if he’s referring to any Arsenal players there?! Hleb and Adebayor perhaps!?

I think he’s right, players should be made to honour their contractual agreements otherwise they’re not worth the paper they’re written on. Players should be heavily financially penalised if they try or want to move clubs within their agreed contractual term. Also if players choose to move clubs and break their contracts this should be reflected in the overall value of their transfer.

Yeah right dream on! Football clubs will do whatever it takes to secure the services of the best football players in the world. They make far too much money from it not to…

Ade bye-bye AC Milan

AC Milan say they cannot afford to or will not pay the £35.8 million we’ve requested for Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Adebayor says “I’m just going to sit down with my agent and with my family and decide what is good for my career.” Well how about staying at Arsenal!?

And he still insists that money will not be the determining factor if he ever leaves us! Hhhmmmm…

“When I was young I had a dream to be a good footballer and play for a big team.”

“I was born in Togo so I never cared about playing for money, my happiness was to play to enjoy myself. That’s what I’ve been doing until now.

“You can see people changing clubs because of money, because they want a change of atmosphere or to get their names in the big leagues. I just play football to enjoy myself. I play because I love it.”

Let’s all hope Milan go after Drogba! What a shame it would be to see him leave the Premiership!
