There have been a lot of rumours lately linking Liverpool star Daniel Agger with a move to Arsenal after the Danish international admitted his frustration over his lack of first-team football this season. The 28-year-old has only started four Premier League games for the Reds this campaign and seems to believe that the time is right for him to move on from Anfield.

Agger has become extremely unsettled after the summer arrivals of former Arsenal man Kolo Toure and French international Mamadou Sakho and has argued that he needs to be playing first team football at this stage in his career, even going on to concede that he is likely to quit the club at the turn of the year if his situation does not improve.

According to rumours, the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is said to be an admirer of the former Brondby man, is poised to make a move for him come the beginning of the January transfer window. The report comes as something of a shock considering that the Merseyside outfit rejected a £14.6 million bid from Barcelona for the player during the summer.

Why Liverpool would reject a big-money offer for a player who hardly features on the pitch is beyond me. In my opinion, Agger’s agent seems to have started a little speculation regarding his client’s future with a view to make Brendan Rodgers think twice before leaving the Dane out of his starting eleven.

Besides, if it’s first team football that Agger is after, he certainly won’t be getting it at Arsenal! We already have three top quality centre-halves and if ever we need another one, it should really be a young lad with massive potential, I really like Mathias Ginter from Freiburg! Just look at it this way, if the guy ain’t good enough to start for Liverpool, he sure as hell ain’t good enough to move to Arsenal.
