Arsenal’s injury list update ahead of the Sunderland game.

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger assessed the injury problems within the team and offered an interview for Arsenal.com regarding them. The Frenchman still has a lot of injuries to worry about, but some of the players are almost ready to play once more for The Gunners.

Wenger expects some of the players to come back from injury in the following 2 weeks and spoke about each one of them:

“It is very good news. Diaby is coming back in full training now so he is 10 days away to be competitive to play. All being well he should be available for the Carling Cup or the game before.”

“Vermaelen is two weeks away. He is running out on the pitches. He looks alright but we have to respect the progression, you still have to give him two to three weeks to be competitive again.”

“Rosicky is alright, he had a little groin [problem]. He had an adjusted training session today but should be back in full training tomorrow. He will be OK for the weekend.”

“Sagna is down of course because when you are used so much to playing every three days and suddenly you are at home without any movement it is very difficult to take. You have to adjust. He is strong mentally so he will get over that.”

“Fabianski had a little groin problem but he will be available for Sunday. Basically we have Diaby, Vermaelen, Sagna and Wilshere out – the players who have had surgery – everybody else is available.”

“The uncertainty was Koscielny because he had not played and was away on international duty. He looks alright, he is back. Djourou is back as well.”

So according to Wenger Arsenal will have to make dew without 4 players against Sunderland. Two defenders and two midfielders will have to be replaced, and unfortunately all of them were regular first team players before they got injured. Diaby will finally be fit soon after a very long time off the pitch, while Sagna and Wilshere have just began their “holiday”. Let’s just hope Diaby will come back firing and he will be able to offer some much needed help in the midfield section.
