With Olivier Giroud on the injury list for the next four months or so and Yaya Sanogo looking as bereft of confidence in front of goal as he ever has since joining Arsenal last summer, Arsene Wenger will be hoping that our new signings Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez can settle in and start to score goals very quickly.

As we have already started to see, Alexis looks good for the Gunners and with his pace, power and ability, he should really suit the Premier League and our own particular style. So what about Welbeck? I think that the fact he has already played alongside quite a few of his new team mates with the England national team will certainly help, as the former United forward suggests in his interview on Arsenal.com.

Welbeck said, “I know a lot about Arsenal. I don’t think there are many people in England who won’t know about Arsenal and what a big club this is. The stadium is fantastic and [the team] has got a legendary manager and magnificent players who have also been brought in. I know the England lads from the camp.

“I met Calum Chambers for the first time [on Monday]. All they have said to me are good words about the club and how big the family is in and around the training ground. It seems like a family club and that’s something that’s really enticing. I’m so glad to be here.”

So that and the fact that England often use London Colney for their training sessions should really help Arsenal, because it should mean that Welbeck settles in seamlessly. And the new Gunner thinks that having so many international team mates playing club football together will benefit England as well.

He continued, “It’s going to be a massive positive for us. We’ll be seeing each other every single day and you obviously develop a much better understanding if you’re working with one another on a consistent basis. That’s something that will definitely benefit the England team.”

Let’s hope that Danny is right and that the Gunners and England are set for some real success. But will club or country benefit the most?
