Arsene Wenger has given a fitness update ahead of Arsenal’s semi final clash against Wigan Atheltic. The game which is set to kick off on Saturday at the iconic Wembley Stadium, will be Arsenal’s first visit to the stadium since the disastrous day that we threw away the cup at the hands of Birmingham City. Wenger however insists that the majority of our Wembley memories are good and goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny was quick to point our the improved maturity within the Gunners. However the main focus will be the performance on the pitch rather than the talk on the sidelines and to achieve the best you have to show the best, starting with the team line up.

Arsenal don’t have too much the brag about at the moment, with various players out of action and others struggling to hit the right form. However for Wenger, he seems to be most concerned about the injury front and has thus given an update ahead of the game.

Wenger told an Arsenal.com report: “I cannot give you concrete team news because we have so many uncertainties about Chamberlain (groin), Gibbs (ankle), Rosicky (thigh). There will be last-minute decisions on those three players. They are all 50:50.” .

“Ozil and Koscielny are still out. I think the earliest to come back for Koscielny could be Tuesday and for Ozil it could be next Saturday. That would be a boost because at the moment we have too many players out and it’s important we get them back. We know that at this period of the season, the number of players we had out is too many.”

Having as many key players available as possible for this game could be pivotal in Arsenal’s success this season and whilst originally things looked a little gloomy to start with, I think we should be more prepared than originally thought out. Fabianski and Ramsey could also return to make respective starting appearances. It is a little disappointing neither Ozil nor Koscienly will be back in time for this Saturday however to know the pair will soon be back on the pitch hopefully alongside the likes of a fully fit Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs could be the final push we need in the last stages of the season.

Although I still think Arsenal could be better prepared for this game, the latest news is good in some respects. It may not have a massive influence on this game but to know that Wilshere, Gibbs, Rosicky, Ox and even Diaby could be around for our final push is very positive news.
