Arsenal defender’s move falls through

Young Arsenal defender Daniel Ballard’s move to the Championship side Burnley has fallen through, The Athletic reports.

The Northern Ireland international was in the city for his medical, however terms between the club could not be agreed.

That will be a blow to new manager Vincent Kompany who was a pivotal figure in convincing the 22-year-old to make a switch to Lancashire.

Even though the Gunners would have hoped for the defender to join Burnley, a defensively robust side, with former center back Kompany their new manager, they won’t be too fussed about the failed move.

Many clubs are believed to be interested in landing Ballard, who’s had two impressive loans at Blackpool and Millwall.

While out on loan, he was an instrumental figure at Blackpool, who got promoted to the Championship in the season he joined. He also tried to push Millwall to the Championship play-off rounds.

Despite not playing a single game for the senior squad of Arsenal, Ballard made an impressive 10 appearances for his national team.

Some fans have high hopes for him

Where the center-back will be plying his trade looks unclear. But one thing is certain, he won’t be staying around at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta already has Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, the incoming William Saliba and Rob Holding in his trusted books.

Not to mention Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez, who Arsenal are pushing to sign in the current transfer window.

Whichever club he ends up joining, I’m sure the club’s faithful will wish him all the best for his future.
