Arsenal Face Competition For Top Midfield Target

Arsenal are due to face competition in their attempts to sign Montpellier’s attacking midfielder Younes Belhanda, as the new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has put the Morocco international on top of his wish-list.

Arsene Wenger has been looking high and wide for a top attacking midfielder he can bring to the club, but he hasn’t had much luck until now. Ever since Fabregas and Nasri left the club the French manager has been looking to find top quality replacements for them, and found an amazing player in Mikel Arteta after bringing him from Everton, but Wilshere’s season-long injury didn’t help his cause at all.

Now Wenger has put together a transfer shortlist where it is believed that Belhanda is somewhere at the top, with the likes of Yann M’Vila, Marvin Martin and Javi Martinez. The talks for M’Vila seem to have stalled, while Javi Martinez might be a touch too expensive for Wenger’s strict transfer policy.

Arsenal have to come back in the title chase in the Premiership, and despite transferring Lukas Podolski the Gunners are probably still not strong enough to do so, and that’s mainly because at the moment they have big problems in the middle of the park, with Wilshere, Diaby and Frimpong all out.
