Arsenal facing serious competition for Olivier Giroud

Spanish La Liga side Malaga was bought in June 2010 by Sheikh Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family, so they are not struggling for money. His spending power has seen the club rise up the Spanish league, and they claimed a spot in next season’s champion’s league competition.

Malaga need a new front man to partner Julio Baptista since Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy retired from football. Arsenal should beware, because the man they have selected for the job is Montpellier star Olivier Giroud, according to Talksport.

Giroud scored 25 goals from his 43 appearances for Montpellier as they pipped PSG to the title. He has a contract with Montpellier until 2014, so the club will want to get as much as possible for the hit man. It is believed that the player himself has told the club that he wants to move on to a bigger club.

Arsenal were hoping to sign the striker for a cut-rate price of £10 million, but with super rich Malaga in the frame they may have to stump up a lot more. Giroud has told the press that he will not do anything about his future until after Euro 2012.

Giroud has only made five appearances for France but he will be hoping to add to that this summer and earn himself a big move. Keep your eyes out for him.

  1. Arsenal shall end up not buying any more players. This is the wish of Keronke and his board. They gonna repeat last season mistake.

  2. well, its obvious vanpersie is leaving.
Why not get giroud or lewandoski, mvila and maybe dempsey let compete 4 trophies

  3. This Giroud has put himself in the euro shop window so
let’s not be cock sure of signing him I’ve never really believed we would
right from the beginning, and the same goes for M’vila.
If they really wanted to join us they’d have done so by now.If no big money clubs come in then we may be lucky and it’s really awful when I have to say about my beloved Arsenal ‘we may be lucky’ but that’s the way our club is at the moment until the board changes their attitude and bring’s Usmanov in then things would be different and top players will be saying we were lucky to join Arsenal.

To be honest I hope these two players will join us but knowing how we dither money wise i’m not that confident because like many Gooners i’ve been kicked in the teeth in the past looking forward to signings which never happened!…
