Now that the under 21 European championships are over, we should soon know whether the Arsenal transfer rumours connecting us to William Carvalho are based on fact or somebody´s imagination. The defensive midfielder from Portugal was one of the players of the tournament and even though he missed the crucial shootout penalty in that final against Sweden, Carvalho played well.

And according to a report in The Mirror, Arsene Wenger will have got a first hand and detailed report about his performance, as the Portuguese media claim that there was a scouting team from Arsenal present at the game.

And the report goes on to say that the Gunners are now firmly in pole position when it comes to the transfer of Carvalho this summer, although our Premier League rivals Liverpool also had some scouts there to watch him. Watch this space Gooners?
