Arsenal injury problems mounting after Sutton FA cup clash

If Arsene Wenger was not stretching the truth a bit in the interview reported by Arsenal.com after the Gunners saw off the National League side Sutton United to progress to the FA cup quarter-final stage, then we arrived at Ganders Green Lane last night with a squad already fairly depleted by injury problems.

The Frenchman said, “Of course, we could not afford a light team selection tonight and that is why I came with basically all the players who were available because we couldn’t afford to go out tonight, we can never afford it.”

So we have to assume that the big first team players Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny, Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin were not available due to fitness issues. As if that situation was not bad enough, Arsenal saw two more players pick up knocks through heavy tackles and playing on the artificial pitch in Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny.

The manager took both of these Gunners off so hopefully they will not be too bad, but with our history of injuries and the way it can affect our chances in the Premier League and the latter stages of the FA cup, how bad could this be for Arsenal?.
