Nicklas Bendtner may have felt that his transfer away from Arsenal was taking an age to complete, with the striker wanting out for some time, but believe me, the Arsenal fans have been waiting even longer to see the back of Bendtner. Finally some years on from his rant that turned all Arsenal fans against him, the striker and fans both seem to have finally got their wish, with the big Danish international set to leave Arsenal for Frankfurt. Believe it or not, but German side Eintracht Frankfurt were just one of many clubs interested in Bendtner but it seems as if they have won the race to sign the 24 year old in a £3 million deal.

Bendtner’s agent said, “I can’t say too much but I hope to have everything sorted out by the end of the week. I was in Frankfurt last Sunday.”

Some weeks back when it was reported that Bendtner had as many as SIX clubs waiting in the wings for his signature, many couldn’t believe their eyes, however there was real truth in the speculation and Arsenal supposedly accepted all six club offers. A few weeks went past and there seemed to be no change in situation in relation to Bendtner and the club and I thought this was largely because the player, who is often known for being quite cocky and praising of himself, stated that he wouldn’t be joining ‘a big club with champions league football’ and I felt this had halted any possible transfer. However as we can now see luckily I was wrong and the striker is soon set to leave the club.

I will admit that a few years back, I really liked Bendtner’s playing style and thought he had a real goal scorers ability, and although you could argue he isn’t actually that bad in front of goal, he is in fact currently Arsenal’s 2nd highest goalscorer currently at the club on 45 goals, it is sadly his attitude that lets him down. Unfortunately for him, I’m sure he won’t fit in anywhere with that attitude.

All I can say is goodbye Bendtner thanks for your last minute winners and occasional good performances but I’m afraid you will always be remembered by the Arsenal faithful as a wasteful striker with the completely wrong attitude to succeed at the highest level. You watch him probably go and prove me wrong…

  1. It seems strange to be saying this, but I am in complete agreement with you.

  2. i think any player that can score 45 goals for a top flight club in just 79 starts, before his 23rd birthday and 22 goals for Denmark in just 55 matches must have something about him. attitude has been his problem, he just needs to grow up, knuckle down and let his football do the talking. he can still be a success and i think the german league will be good for him.

so with the 6 departures and 1 arrival here is how the 1st team squad now looks

    szczesney
    jenkinson mertesacker koscielny gibbs
    arteta ramsey
    Walcott Wilshire cazorla
    giroud

    fabianski
    coquelin sagna vermaelen monreal
    frimpong diaby
    chamberlain rosicky podolski
    sanogo

ryo, Campbell, gervinho, santos, park, chamakh, bendtner

i would say that once those last 5 have gone we will have cleared the decks of deadwood. however the squad will be down to just 24 players and 7 of those are classed as under 21’s
