Arsenal rocked as target midfielder snubs EPL for La Liga move

Just this week the agent of the Arsenal target midfielder Lucas Silva revealed that there had been interest in his 21-year old client from some Premier League clubs and the rumour was that the Gunners were one of the clubs looking at a £12 million bid for him in the January transfer window.

His agent had suggested that Silva was ready to move on from his current club, the Brazilian champions Cruzeiro and so Arsenal fans were starting to get excited about the prospect of Arsene Wenger bringing the talented and energetic central midfielder to the Emirates, especially as his ability has drawn comparisons with the former World Player of the Year and fellow Brazilian Kaka.

However, our hopes are now seemingly hanging by a thread as the player has expressed his preference for a transfer to La Liga giants Real Madrid, according to a Daily Mail report. The young midfielder has declared that it would be a `dream come true` for him to play his home games at the Bernabeu, but that does not mean that they will try to sign him.

Carlo Ancelotti is not exactly lacking in central midfielders, with Arsenal target Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, Illarramendi and Luka Modric among others in his star studded squad. So perhaps there is a chance that Wenger could still persuade Silva that the Premier League was the right place for him.
