Arsenal’s officials don’t seem to even think about the possibility that Dutch striker Robin Van Persie could leave the club and not extend his contract, but don’t want to push him into taking a decision just now.
Robin rejected to negotiate any new contract at the moment saying that 2 seasons are a long time and a lot can change in that time, so he wanted to wait.
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood declared that Robin will surely stay at the club, especially given the way he’s currently playing.
“I think Robin wants to stay. He seems very happy.
“Nothing has been discussed, though it is obvious we want him to stay. He doesn’t want to talk about a contract now and that’s fine with us.”
Van Persie is still under contract with the Gunners until the summer of 2013, but offers are already flying in for the striker who is at the moment one of the best in the world thanks to his incredible form.
Wenger will probably attempt to extend his contract again before the summer, but that will only happen if Robin will be able to resist the temptation of signing with Real Madrid in January.
