If this latest of the usual mountain of Arsenal transfer rumours actually comes true it would surely put a smile back on the faces of the unhappy Arsenal fans who are planning another big protest at the ground this weekend after seeing the Gunners blow a great chance of ending the 12 year wait for a title.

But the smiles would come more because it would be a slap in the face for our London rivals Chelsea than genuine excitement about the signing of their young forward Dominic Solanke, who The Sun reports is a serious transfer target for Arsenal in the summer.

Even though the 18-year old is currently on loan at the Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem and has only played a grand total of 17 minutes as a sub for his parent club, Chelsea are said to be desperate for Solanke not to become the latest young player with great potential to leave due to lack of opportunities on the pitch.

But after scoring seven goals for his loan club and being named as the England Youth Player of the Year in 2014, Solanke and his representatives are pushing for a wage hike up to £50,000 and as Chelsea are reluctant, Arsenal are ready to pounce.

We won’t pay that for him either but the report claims that Arsenal’s much better record of giving young players a chance will work in our favour. But is this really the sort of transfer that Arsenal fans want to see this summer?
