Fingers crossed that this latest piece of Arsenal transfer news is on the money, and not some football journalist blowing smoke up the backside of Arsenal fans starting to worry that the summer transfer window was passing us by. Reports are hitting the media that Arsenal are set to complete the signing of not one, but two quality players.
They are the Barcelona and Chile forward, Alexis Sanchez, and the Southampton and France midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin. If we do actually seal the deal on these two players, as a report in The Express claims to be very close, there will be the added bonus that Arsenal have beaten two of our biggest rivals to their signatures.
Our north London rivals Tottenham wanted Schneiderlin, with his formmer boss keen to re-unite with the defensive midfielder, but it seems that the young Frenchman has bigger plans, namely the Champions League and Arsenal. Who can blame him?
And Liverpool were very keen on Sanchez, but have been trying to tie him into a deal for the loose cannon that is Luis Suarez. Despite the Uruguayan’s antics, they are still trying to take the Catalan club to the cleaners, whereas Arsenal have apparently offered good money and beat the scousers to the punch.
