Arsenal set to give Alex Song massive pay rise

According to the Daily Mail, the Arsenal midfielder Alex Song is set to be offered a new and improved long-term contract in the coming weeks.

The Cameroon midfielder’s current deal is said to be worth around £55,000-a-week, but if sources from the Mail are to be believed, Song could well be in line for a significant pay hike which will see him earn £75,000-a-week, making him one of Arsenal’s highest paid players.

The 24-year-old has been in inspired form this season and has been instrumental in the Gunners’ renaissance which now sees them occupy third spot in the league table, three points clear of the Spuds.

After losing both Fabregas and Na$ri at the end of last season, it’s great to see Arsenal actually making an effort to keep hold of their best players for the long-term future.

Thomas Vermaelen, Tomas Rosicky and Francis Coquelin have all been tied down to new deals. With Alex Song set to be added to that list, I certainly hope Robin van Persie is next in line….

  1. It is reall important for arsenal to be keeping influencial players at the club, and it will do much better if RVP also lays down the pen on paper, in that way plus the signings in the summer we are assured of top class football at ARSENAL

  2. That is one of our key players in the past seasons. He is a player that’s not after money,we call him the Engine Room[ Alex Strong] and he is very clever. Up Gunners.

  3. £75000 is not enough considering his performance and how important he is to AFC. Alex Song has been doing a great job to this great club.he deserves more!

  4. very good news that we r now trying to do every thing possible to tie ours best players to long terms contracts,i sometimes cant help myself thinking at what team we would have now if we had managed to keep hold of ours best players in the last few years imagine that!!
