Arsenal should NOT sell The Ox to Man United

Manchester United are linked with making a move to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, but is this really what Arsenal fans have been asking for?

Many of the club’s supporters have turned on the manager this term, as well as growing frustrated with the input of players like Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Chamberlain. With news reports claiming that the Red Devils are interested in one of those players, the alarm bells are starting to ring for me.

The days of Arsenal allowing their bigger players to leave and join a rival are, for me, over now, but does the Ox constitute a big player? The midfielder arrived with huge potential five years ago, but he has failed to reach his potential, and is being likened to Theo Walcott in the injury department.

I put it to you that most 22 year-old’s are still learning the game, and that whilst it feels like Chamberlain has been with us forever and that he should be hitting the heights now, he is still young.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the same age and only broke through into their first-team last year, and there is still time for the former Saints youth product to become the player we expected when we signed him.

The fact that fellow Premier League title rivals Manchester City and Manchester United have both been linked with the midfielder, as well as Chelsea was under Jose Mourinho, I think it would be madness to allow him to leave, unless it was a loan deal where he would be guaranteed first-team action.

Would you really let the Ox leave when he still has years to find his confidence and rhythm? I think not!
