Whether the current Arsenal central defensive pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel is how Arsene Wenger sees as the new first choice or whether it is a temporary measure brought about by the bad mistake of Per Mertesacker in getting sent off against Chelsea and the speedy nature of our opponents attack, only time will tell.

But I can tell you that a lot of Arsenal fans would be happy to see our giant German defender replaced by Wenger signing a top quality centre back during the summer transfer window. According to The Sun, the boss may well have been thinking along the same lines, as they are reporting that the Gunners were preparing to make a move for the young Italian defender Daniel Rugani from Juventus after hearing that the player nearly handed in a transfer request in November.

It was because of his lack of playing time for the Serie A champions this season but their manager has assured Rugani that he is set to be the future of their back four and has declared that Rugani will definitely not be sold in the summer.

Should Arsenal go for him anyway or would you rather Wenger signed a more experienced player?
