We don’t really know which names are really on Arsene Wenger’s list of possible Arsenal targets for the January transfer window. Most in the football media think that most of the names on the Frenchman’s list will be either central defenders or defensive midfielders.

But the Arsenal boss has always got his eye out for a bargain as well and he is also partial to players on the creative and attacking side of the game, so maybe the name of Sebastian Giovinco is one of those that Wenger is think of.

The small but talented Italian forward’s agent certainly seems to think so and, as reported by Metro, he has suggested that Arsenal might well have some joy at persuading the 27-year old’s current club Juventus to part with their star, either in January or at the end of this season.

Andrea D’Amico said, “Giovinco to Arsenal? At the moment only Juventus can negotiate with him, later on however things can change since he has an expiring contract.

“I haven’t met many times with Juventus, on our end we have always been open to it.

“Giovinco is 27 years old, he’s in the prime of his career and he has had some important experiences at Juventus.

“In my opinion giving up on him is a risk, there aren’t players with his quality and attributes: the fact that [Antonio] Conte has selected him to national team proves it.”

Giovinco is technically gifted and pacy, with great dribbling skills but he is not exactly prolific in front of goal, with just 14 goals in his 79 games for the Italian champions and just one from his 20 international caps with Italy. So while he may be available, do the Gunners really need or want him?
