Arsenal v Newcastle Player Ratings – Ramsey and Ozil show their class

Arsenal walloped Newcastle 3-0 at the Emirates last night bringing us closer to Champions league qualification for yet another season. With just two matches left, all we need is one win. Here are the player ratings for the game.

WOJCIECH SZCZESNY – 6
Didn’t have much to do but kept his concentration to save from Remy and Gouffran.

BACARY SAGNA – 7
Energetic performance from the Frenchman. Contributed his quota to the Gunners’ attacking efforts while also defending solidly.

NACHO MONREAL – 6
Proved a capable replacement for Kieran Gibbs. Was rarely troubled by Newcastle.

PER MERTESACKER – 7
Dealt with the Newcastle attack without getting out of first gear. He generally did everything right.

LAURENT KOSCIELNY – 7.5
He set Arsenal on the way with the first goal and did his job at the other end too. Good effort. The back line looks sure with him in the team.

MIKEL ARTETA – 7
Had a hand in the second goal with that fine pass. Passed well and the partnership with Ramsey was good.

AARON RAMSEY – 8
Another great display from the Welshman. Makes me wonder where we would be if he hadn’t been out injured for most of the year.

SANTI CAZORLA – 7
Brilliant set-piece for the first goal and was a constant threat with his movement.

LUKAS PODOLSKI – 7
Failed to keep up his recent goalscoring exploits but gave the Newcastle defence something to worry about

MESUT OZIL – 8
Beautiful assist for Giroud’s goal. Ozil played like a 42 million-pound signing before been substituted last night.

OLIVIER GIROUD – 7
Scored the third goal but he had a mixed game of sorts. Would be interesting to see how he fits in next season if Wenger find the world class striker that he craves.

SUBSTITUTES
TOMAS ROSICKY – 6
Passed the ball well after coming on in the 74th minute

MATHIEU FLAMINI – 6
He helped bring stability to the team.

YAYA SANOGO – 6
He replaced Giroud late in the game.
