The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been watching PSG’s center-back Mamadou Sakho for the better part of last season and many expected the switch to occur, especially given the fact that Mertesacker still seems to have problems getting used to the speed of the Premier League.

Sakho has dismissed the possibility of making the switch, and claimed that his only focus in winning the French Ligue 1 title with PSG. The new additions of Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi and Thiago Silva are sure to be enough for PSG to win the title, and Sakho wants to be a part of that.

“This season my challenges are big, very big,” he told PSG’s official website.

“The fight for the title is our goal and also to make it big in the Champions League. It is important to build the team, and my aspirations are to stay here.”

Arsene Wenger is unlikely to go for another central defender now with only two weeks to go until the Premier League debut, but rumours have it that at least a midfielder will join the Gunners before the commencement of the new season.
