Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal players are under no illusion about the size of the task facing them tonight, even though Man City will have to do without their captain, talisman and best defender Vincent Kompany. The boss knows that there is more than enough quality in their hugely expensive squad to cause us problems.
But while the prof admitted that the Gunners would need to be on top form tonight, as reported by Arsenal.com, he also sounded pretty confident. It is clear that he thinks that the visitor’s tonight will also find it very hard to deal with the Arsenal star that the boss reckons is the perfect player.
Wenger said, “I think Mesut’s technique is perfect, his understanding of the game is perfect, the timing of what he does is perfect.
“I believe has has added something to his game. He’s more penetrative, more incisive, he has more desire to get in the box. When you watch the games well, you see that Mesut Ozil is now getting in the box more and more. He works physically very hard, which people don’t usually realise. Mesut is a guy who covers the distances and who gives absolutely everything in every game.”
With the German in the sort of superb form we have seen from him all season, an apposing defence needs to be at their best to stop him and without Kompany, Man City are not. So will perfect Ozil help Arsenal to ensure a miserable christmas for our Premier League rivals?
