The latest right back to be linked with Arsenal is Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek. Arsenal have been looking for a right back recently because of the likelihood of Bacary Sagna leaving the club.

Sagna has been concerning the manager Arsene Wenger with his lack of match fitness and poor performances. Sagna himself seems keen on a move to French giants PSG. It is unclear whether PSG will make a move for the Frenchman or not and it is also unclear if Wenger will allow him to leave the club. Sagna would definitely be interested in a move to PSG to live close to his hometown and pocket a larger wage for the remaining years of his career.

It was reported in recent weeks that Sebastian Corchia would be the top choice to replace Sagna but Piszczek’s form in the last few seasons has been irresistible. Maxime Gonalons was also linked with Arsenal and he can play in a number of positions including right back when he is needed there, but if Sgan does go then we need a specialist right back.

We can’t forget about Carl Jenkinson either, who could move into the squad as the permanent right back if Sagna leaves. Even if Jenkinson does move into the first team, however, a backup player would still be needed such as Corchia. We saw what happened when Gibbs was injured before Monreal was signed.

Arsenal fans should hope to see Piszczek at the club as he has blossomed into one of the worlds most underrated right backs. He has incredible speed and attacking skill but can also competently defend. The pole is without a doubt one of Dortmund’s key players and has helped significantly on the road to the Champions League final. He could be available for as little as £12 Million but Jurgen Klopp will be determined to keep hold of the player at all costs. He is Polish though, so have a word will you Szczesny!
