Bad news for Giroud as Arsenal plan another striker transfer

The Arsenal and France international centre forward Olivier Giroud is already struggling to get a start this season, at club level anyway as he seems to still be in favour with his national coach Didier Deschamps. The problem Giroud has in north London, though, is that the current first choice centre forward Alexis Sanchez is playing so well that Arsene Wenger really has no option but to keep starting him.

Giroud has done brilliantly in recent weeks coming off the bench but even his place there could soon be in danger if the recent Arsenal transfer rumours are right. Already this week the Gunners have been linked with moves for two different strikers in the January transfer window.

One of those is the Germany international Julian Draxler who seems determined to leave his current Bundesliga club Wolfsburg according to a report in The Mirror. Although Draxler is not a central striker his signing would make it even less likely that the Chilean would go back on the flank.

Even more worrying for the big Frenchman, however, is the Metro report about Arsene Wenger lining up a £20 million bid for the AC Milan and Colombia striker Carlos Bacca, as he does play through the middle and is in good scoring form for his Serie A club.

Is Giroud set to slide even further down the Arsenal strikers pecking order?
