With Theo Walcott finally back in the Arsenal squad after 10 long months without him due to the anterior cruciate ligament damage he suffered during the FA cup win over north London rivals Tottenham in January, Arsenal fans were looking forward to seeing the speedy forward flying down the wing again and scoring the goals that had made him the club’s top goal scorer the previous season.

But that might not be about to happen, according to a Daily Express report. The paper claims that the England international could instead be set for a surprise switch to Serie A with the Italian club Fiorentina.

They want him to join the likes of Man City’s Micah Richards, Mario Gomez and Juan Cuadrado in an attempt to challenge the dominance of Italian champions Juventus who have won the Scudetto for the last three years, or at least to qualify for next season’s Champions League. They are also hoping for a good challenge at the Europa League trophy as they sit comfortably atop their group.

So Fiorentina are hoping that Arsene Wenger will allow Walcott to join them on loan until the end of the season with the promise of regular first team football to build up his fitness and match sharpness. But will the Arsenal boss really let such a key player leave?

  1. If this is right then i think wenger needs to consider his position as this would rate as one of the worst decisions he will have made and he has made quite a few.We need to keep our players and not keep strengthening other teams. We are struggling with defensive cover yet he let Jenkinson go to west ham and look at his performances so far this season.Wenger surely cant let Theo leave end off.
