Can Arsenal boss repeat Ramsey turnaround with Wilshere?

The turnaround in form and fortunes of Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal has been remarkable in the last 18 months or so. And anyone who thinks the two things are not connected must have been living on another planet. And if Arsene Wenger can just work similar magic on another young central midfielder, Jack Wilshere, then the Gunners would be ready to blow everyone to bits.

The young Welshman and the way he has improved is not the be all and end all, of course, because at the same time, we saw a resurgence from our number one Wojciech Szczesny, while the partnership at the back between Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny really started to flourish, but it is Rambo, super Rambo who has been the most remarkable story at Arsenal.

Wenger has been speaking about the way his player has turned all that cruel criticism on it’s head, as reported by the Daily Mail, and about a crucial conversation he had with the player in 2013 that seems to have been key to what we have seen from Ramsey recently.

Wenger said, “I sat down with Aaron and I told him, “I don’t think people don’t like you, but they don’t like your game at the moment.

“He had to come back to a more simple game… then you saw a different player, because he is intelligent, and when I came out of the meeting I knew this guy would come back.”

I think Jack Wilshere may be going through a similar thing at the moment, perhaps over-complicating his game and trying to do too much. We know the lad has talent but has struggled recently, so do you think that Wenger could get him firing on all cylinders again as he did with Ramsey?
