Can Arsenal put trust In Gnabry so early?

Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry is perhaps one of the biggest upcoming talents in the footballing world at the moment, and ultimately it comes as no shock because the young German under 21 international has hit fantastic heights already considering his age.

Gnabry has been in and around the Arsenal first team for the past two seasons now, this season included. At just 18 years old, this is no mean feat for any player, yet alone one who has managed to battle his way through the ranks at Arsenal in hope of becoming one of the few that actually seem to make it with the Gunners.

After featuring a little during pre-season, Gnabry managed to keep his place in the Arsenal first team, often being listed as a substitute on match day. And although this is largely down to the fact that we are severely thin on the ground in terms of numbers, ultimately Gnabry deserved a place.

When his chance finally came however, last week against Stoke City, following on from Walcott’s sudden stomach injury, Gnabry managed to impress on the big stage of the Premier League and also had a fair few decent chances to either pick out a teammate or go for goal himself.

Following on from that, the young winger then had another chance to impress in Arsenal’s Capital One Cup game vs. West Brom at the Hawthorns. Arsenal ran out as winners after beating the Baggies 4-3 on penalties on Wednesday night; however Gnabry arguably had a shocker. Several missed chances, as well as poor deliveries, as well as a missed penalty in the shootout, summed up a terrible game for the German, however I’m confident that this is only a blip and he will soon be back to his usual self once again.

When will Gnabry get is next chance seems to be the main question and to many people’s surprise, it may be sooner than first expected. With Walcott out for the month, I think we could once again welcome Gnabry into the Arsenal side, this time as we go to the Liberty City stadium to play Swansea.
On Gnabry’s chances,

Wenger said: “To play in the Premier League today is very seldom for a young boy who is 17 years old. But he has the body to cope with the duels and he is ready to do that. We have some other boys who have the technical quality to play in the Premier League but are not resistant enough yet to compete physically, but he [Gnabry] has that. It is a good opportunity for him. I haven’t decided if I will start him tomorrow [at Swansea] but he of course has a good opportunity. He is still a young boy but he shows that he has quality.”

I personally wouldn’t mind seeing Gnabry again, because although he is only on the fringes of the first team, who else can we possibly turn to at this moment in time? Adding on to this, I think Gnabry, along with the likes of Akpom, Bellerin and Olsson, Gnabry is just one of a few that could realistically make it at Arsenal, if he manages to keep his game up to a high enough standard.
