I think that most Arsenal fans have now reached the stage, with just hours of the summer transfer window to go and just two signings made by Arsene Wenger while all our rivals are spending shedloads of cash on all sorts of players, that we would be happy with just about any new signing.
I would certainly be pretty happy if the Gunners were to add one of the two attacking wide players being heavily linked with a move to north London by the football media today, The Leicester City and Algeria star has been linked with Arsenal and many other clubs and seems very close to completing his transfer to somebody, with the BBC reporting that he has been allowed to leave his international team mates to finalise the move. ...........Read more
One of the biggest, or at least the most often reported, Arsenal transfer rumours of this summer was the one about the young Monaco and France international star Thomas Lemar. There were apparently at least two bids and possibly more from Arsene Wenger according to the rumours, but as the French club appeared unwilling to deal after selling a number of their top players the story died down.
So Arsenal fans were understandably upset to hear that our Premier League rivals Liverpool could be about to sign the talented winger this week. Now that move looks off as well, with The Mirror reporting that Jurgen Klopp will instead focus on getting our own Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the England international apparently turned down a transfer to Chelsea in favour of Anfield. ...........Read more
Wenger Out? Odds Tumble on Manager Being First to LeavebyThomas Matthews, Oddschecker
– Wenger shortens from 33/1 to 8/1 to leave
– Surge in bets for Arsenal to be relegated after loss to Liverpool
Arsenal showed faith in Arsene Wenger this summer by awarding him a new two-year contract, but the punters have begged to differ on his future after Sunday’s horror show, with odds drastically shortening after an increase in bets on Wenger to leave his position.
In the last 48 hours, bookmakers have shortened their odds for the manager to be the first to leave to as low as 8/1 (12.5% probability.) ...........Read more
Here is an interesting analysis, conducted by bookmaker bwin, which reveals just how much Arsenal (sitting in 16th with 3 points from 3 games) are a club in crisis and badly need to beat Bournemouth next time out. ...........Read more
Despite a disappointing season in the Premier League that saw Arsenal finish outside the top four and without a place in the Champions League for the first full season with Arsene Wenger as manager, we ended on a little bit of a high with the record breaking FA cup trophy triumph.
As it turned out that Wembley win was not the reason the Frenchman was offered a new two year contract because it was already agreed, but it did help to keep us Arsenal fans from getting too frustrated with our club, as did the assurances we were given that there would be significant changes made in the running of things, even if the man in charge was the same. ...........Read more
There could still be quite a few twists and turns to the story of Alexis Sanchez and his much debated possible transfer away from Arsenal this summer, but it is looking increasingly like the Chilean will be leaving the Emirates stadium before the current window closes, despite the many assurances of Arsene Wenger to the contrary.
If that is to be the case and our striker is going to sign for a direct Premier League rival then the Arsenal fans are not going to be happy, which may be why Wenger and the board are going to push to get the best possible deal out of City, and according to a Metro report that means the Argentinean striker Sergio Aguero moving the other way. ...........Read more
It has been practically confirmed that Shkrodan Mustafi is set to leave Arsenal, and the German defender was dropped for this weekend’s demolition at Liverpool. There is little time for Arsenal to find another buyer, so it looks like the Italian giants are set to loan Mustafi for one year and agree to sign him in full next summer.
The deal will mean that Inter will pay the defender’s wages, said to be £90,000-a-week, and pay a small loan fee for this seasons agreement. Arsene Wenger will be very disappointed that he couldn’t get the cash up front to pay for new acquisitions in the next couple of days but there would appear to be no other ioffers on the table. ...........Read more
There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth on social media when it was revealed that Arsenal had agreed to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea, and it was quickly compounded when another rumour spread like wildfire suggesting that Alexis Sanchez had followed that by handing in a transfer request.
It was not helped when Alexis himself posted this picture on Instagram, without any comment whatsoever…
Although Arsenal didn’t make an official announcement or denial (surprise!) it would appear that someone at the club spoke to Sky Sports and asked them to report that the rumours were false. ...........Read more
Not even Arsene Wenger could come up with anything positive to say about his Arsenal team after the Gunners were completely outplayed in a 4-0 humbling by Liverpool at Anfield. Surely even the Frenchman can no longer claim to be happy with the quality and depth of his squad as he tried to say after last weekend’s defeat to Stoke City.
The good news for Wenger and for the Arsenal fans is that there are still a few days of the summer transfer window left and that gives the boss a great chance to sort out his problems before it is too late. Wenger must be aware that the Arsenal fans are furious and frustrated about the lack of transfer action so far and about the way the new season has started. ...........Read more
With the international break coming up and with the results of Arsenal’s big Premier League rivals Man City, Manchester United and Chelsea all going the wrong way, from our point of view, this weekend so far, it is vital that the Gunners get back to north London with something from our away game against Liverpool, and I would go a little further and say that a draw would not really be enough today. ...........Read more
