When the Arsenal transfer rumours told us last week that the French club AS Monaco had rejected a pretty hefty bid of around £30 million for their young French winger Thomas Lemar, I for one though that would be that and Arsene Wenger would move on to other transfer targets.
However it does not seem to have put off Le Prof and neither do the reports that said that Lemar’s club were asking for a ridiculously high figure in the region of £80 million if Arsenal were to persuade them to sell, because the Daily Mail are reporting that the Gunners have gone back to Monaco with a bigger bid for the talented 21-year old. ...........Read more
Arsenal fans already knew that Arsene Wenger was a big fan of the Leicester City and Algeria international star, because he tried to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City last summer. Hardly surprising after all the goals and assists helped the Foxes to a shock Premier League title triumph.
We also know that the Frenchman was not too fussed about the fact that Mahrez did not enjoy the same stellar season last time around because he said as much last month and even hinted that he might try again during this transfer window. ...........Read more
After Arsenal signed another striker this week in the shape of Alexandre Lacazette, the France international star from the French club Lyon, the questions have begun about where he will fit into the Arsenal team and who will be the current forwards in the squad most likely to miss out.
Of course we want Alexis Sanchez to stay and it seems there is real hope that he will. There have also been a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours linking our big centre forward Olivier Giroud with a move away, more recently with Everton but first off he was being linked with West Ham. ...........Read more
If this does happen it will make Arsenal the biggest spending football club in history on a single transfer. It would also make us the proud owner of one 18-year old French forward who many in the football world feel could be as good a striker as the former Gunner and club record goal scorer Thierry Henry.
Arsenal may well have beaten the likes of Real Madrid to the signing of Kylian Mbappe with a combination of the ability to guarantee the young player the regular game time that the Spanish champions could not, along with the not inconsiderable outlay of around £125 million, which is what The Mirror says we are offering to pay the forward’s current club AS Monaco. ...........Read more
Arsenal fans already knew that Arsene Wenger would have to break the club’s record transfer outlay in order to secure the signing of the manager’s top transfer target of the summer. And with all the hype around Kylian Mbappe together with the reports that the Monaco and France international star was wanted by the likes of Real Madrid the talk was that it would probably have to break the world transfer record set by Manchester United for the French midfielder Paul Pogba as well. ...........Read more
I believe that the football media, or some members of it at least, like nothing more than to wind up football fans and I also think that Arsenal fans get this treatment more than most. Any hint of something that will stress us out is instantly splashed all over the back pages and if there is nothing about someone will probably make a rumour up.
Having said that, it is easy to take the news reported by The Mirror and other outlets that our Spanish right back Hector Bellerin has bought a house on the Catalan coast near Barcelona as a sure sign that the Arsenal transfer rumours linking the right back with a summer transfer back to his boyhood club will prove to be spot on. ...........Read more
If the reports are true then the only thing stopping Arsenal from completing the big money transfer of the France international star Alexandre Lacazette from his current club Lyon is the say so of the striker himself.
The president of Lyon admitted earlier in the week that his club have received what he described as a nice offer from Arsenal and now The Mirror is reporting that he has also revealed that this has been passed on to the player and his people and that there are no rival bids. ...........Read more
You can understand sometimes when Arsenal are beaten to the punch in some transfer battles, with Premier League clubs like Man City and Chelsea packing more financial fire power, or the willingness to use it, than Arsene Wenger and our board, or when other clubs around Europe like Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich can offer much more hope of major trophy success to players.
When it comes to a transfer battle with one of the EPL clubs who have less money, though, and who regularly finish below Arsenal in the league table, you would expect Arsenal to seal the deal, so if the report about Wenger making a late transfer bid for M’Baye Niang, who was set to sign for Everton, it should be a foregone conclusion. ...........Read more
Arsenal fans already know that Arsene Wenger is a fan of the Leicester City and Algeria footballer Riyad Mahrez, because the Frenchman tried to sign him last summer after a stellar season full of goals and assists helped the Foxes to defy the odds and win the Premier League title.
Just in case any of you Gooners out there had forgotten this, the Frenchman spoke again recently about Mahrez and even said that an Arsenal bid for the player was a possibility. The rumour was that the 26-year old had made an arrangement with his current club that he would be allowed to leave after staying for one more season, so it was hardly surprising to learn of Wenger’s interest. ...........Read more
It is one thing for Arsenal to identify the perfect player to go and get in the transfer market this summer, but another thing entirely for the board and Arsene Wenger, assuming it is the Frenchman who is going to manage the Gunners again next season, to actually beat all the other interested clubs to complete the transfer.
Having said that, it is not always easy to identify the right player, so maybe the former arsenal and France international star Robert Pires has done Wenger a big favour this week, as he has claimed in an interview with BWIN that he has found the perfect player for the boss to sign at the end of the current season, and that player is another Frenchman Antoine Griezmann. ...........Read more
