Arsene Wenger on Bringing back Vieira ohhh ohhh ohhh oh!

Arsene Wenger on Bringing back Vieira!

Oh yeah Mr Wenger bring Vieira back to Arsenal!This is (reportedly) what Arsene Wenger has said with regards to the Patrick Vieira situation at Arsenal this week;

“I have a general policy about re-signing players but I never said I would never do it,” explained Wenger.”

“I am not a big fan because I feel once the players have gone, they have gone.”

“If I want to call Patrick I can call his English number. But nobody will move at the moment.”

“Two weeks ago I didn’t know if we would have Eduardo of Tomas Rosicky or not and they are both completely back so that makes the squad quite big.”

“I don’t know it could have psychological impact on the rest of the squad. It is a possibility. First of all is it now sure he will decide to join us.”

Personally I cannot see an issue with Vieira making a come back at Arsenal. He stayed after a few summers of media transfer hype and there is no question about his commitment on the pitch. And all on a free transfer too! Yes please Mr Wenger bring Vieria back!

Togo plan to pick Adebayor!

Adebayor togoTogo plan to pick Adebayor!

What did I say? Just yesterday; Adebayor injured for Arsenal but fit for Togo Togo ‘are likely’ - so they say - to use Adebayor as a morale booster for the team; which is very nice, but all sounds like a load of rubbish to me! What’s the betting Adebayor plays? The Arsenal top goal scorer last season, oh yep let’s just take him along for a moral booster -Hmmmm.

And now reports suggest that, well reports are saying Togo plan to pick Adebayor to play! It’s a miricle! Adebayor is fully fit again is he? I don’t think so…

National teams should be fined for picking injured players and there should be an independent medical carried out on any players that face the issue of being injured but wanted to play by their country. It would not be difficult to set up an independent medical body in order to govern scenarios like this. It would protect the clubs and the national teams and offer a degree of transparency for all parties concearned. What do you think? A good idea or not? What would you do?

Togo coach Jean Thissen said: “Ade is here to play against Cameroon. He is the main man for the national team. He is my captain, the nation can count on him.”

“He has always given his best for the country so he will be a boost to the squad. he is a wonderful player.”

Yeah but HE’s INJURED!! Why should Togo get away with this?

Adebayor injured for Arsenal but fit for Togo?

This club-versus-country argument looks like its set to hit Arsenal again as Emmanuel Adebayor has been called up to the Togo sqaud for the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.

Have the Togo officials missed the fact that Adebayor has been injured for the last 6 weeks?! It’s not as if he’s had a couple of weeks out with a little niggle of an injury; he’s had hamstring problems and 6 weeks is a pretty long time if you ask me. Surely a long enough injury for a top Premier League club to have control over a top player going to play a game potentially injured?

Togo ‘are likely’ - so they say - to use Adebayor as a morale booster for the team; which is very nice, but all sounds like a load of rubbish to me! What’s the betting Adebayor plays? The Arsenal top goal scorer last season, oh yep let’s just take him along for a moral booster -Hmmmm.

Arsene Wenger is planning on getting Adebayor back to fitness for the next Champions League and Premier League installments.

I realise Togo are talking about World Cup qualifiers but what’s the point of taking an injured player and then being tempted to play him injured risking further injury and then having to deal with Arsenal.

Perhaps I’m jumping the gun here but to me it’s a simple answer - just don’t take Adebayor in the first place…

Walcott wants more

Theo Walcott ArsenalWalcott wants more time…

Theo Walcott says he wants more games before he can think about getting back to the amazing form he was experiencing before this recent injury.

I’d almost forgotten the shoulder injury walcott picked up in one of the last England internationals. Another example of pointless England games messing up the Premiership title chances..oh well - I think I can safely say we’re not going anywhere near the Premiership Champions title this season.

Walcott said; “The time has passed a lot quicker than I thought it would. I always had (the Burnley) game, or the Roma away leg, as my comeback target in my mind.

“I was playing really well, the boss had shown faith in me to put me in the team and I’ve got to get back to that level.

“But coming back from injury I know I won’t get there straight away, it will take me a few games to get into the swing of things.

“The best thing is to put 100 per cent in, work hard and do my best.”

Eduardo back in 3 weeks!Eduardo back in 3 weeks!

Arsene Wenger believes that Arsenal striker Eduardo will be back playing in the first team in just 3 weeks time! What fantastic news for us and even better for Eduardo who deserves all the good luck in the world following massive leg and ankle injuries.

The Croatian international suffered horrific leg and ankle injuries at Birmingham on 23 February and there were fears for his career.

But having undergone surgery the same day he was injured, the player has been working hard on his fitness ever since.

Arsenal have no fear in Champions League

Arsenal gun down fenerbahceArsenal have no fear in Champions League

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he was proud of the way his young team played with “no fear” in the 5-2 Champions League win over Fenerbahce.

Arsenal’s side had an average age of 22 in Istanbul and recorded their biggest away win in Europe in five years.

“We had a young team and I’m proud we came in and tried to dictate the game in a heated atmosphere,” said Wenger.

Wenger also reserved praise for the “very promising” Aaron Ramsey, 17, who scored the Gunners’ final goal.

Senderos on loan to Milan

Senderos on loan to AC MilanI wrote this the other week and it looks like it’s been stuck in the Draft folders file, anyway out of date but here’s the post!

Philippe Senderos is undergoing a medical today ready to complete his year long loan deal seeing him join AC Milan. The deal is set to be agreed and signed today.

Wenger says that Senderos is not going to get the games he needs with us this season; “He does not get the games here, and so now he can play somewhere and remain in a top-level club,” said Wenger.

Now that we’ve got Silvestre from united you can see why Senderos has decided this will be a good move, Wenger said; “We have Djourou, we have Kolo, we have Senderos, we have Song, Gallas and Silvestre now who can play centre-back so we have a congestion there.”

“We want him to play without losing him it has not been decided yet whether the transfer will be permanent.”

Personally I think that Senderos isn’t up to scratch when it comes to top, top flight Champions league and Premier League games, he just looks too nervous to me and it’s, unfortunately reflected in the quality of his football during these crucial games.

Give Adebayor our backing says Wenger

Adebayor signs new Arsenal contractArsene Wenger says that all Arsenal fans should lay off Adebayor after some fans booed him at the pre-season Emriates cup games.

Wenger said: “We have to get behind him and support him. He is a tremendous force and is of tremendous importance for the team - you want your own fans to be behind him.”

“What happened in the transfer period did not always reflect his deep desire and there was manipulation from agents on both sides, but overall I am positive he will recover.”

This follows the news that Emmanuel Adebayor has now signed a new £80,000 a week, long term contract with Arsenal. The deal should keep him at Arsenal until 2012, but with players these days who knows exactly!?

I think this is great news for us even though Adebayor has been, or seemed to be, a bit under hand in his dealings with other clubs during the summer transfer window.

Then again perhaps you shouldn’t believe everything you read in the press and on football web sites!

Lawro’s verdict for Arsenal this season!

Arsenal football club

Lawro’s Verdict for Arsenal this season!

I’ve just taken this from here; http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7540723.stm

 Nickname: The Gunners
Ground: Emirates Stadium
Capacity: 60,000
Position last season: Third
Manager: Arsene Wenger (September 1996)

DO YOU AGREE WITH LAWRO?

Lawro’s verdict: The Gunners look a little short of quality to me and I think they might slip from third to fourth this season.

There have been a couple of high profile departures from the club in Alexander Hleb and Mathieu Flamini. New signing Samir Nasri looks like a scaled down version of Hleb and I’m a bit worried about Emmanuel Adebayor, who I think did want to leave over the summer.

We don’t know for sure when Eduardo will be back and although I like the look of youngster Jack Wilshire I think this year might be a little too early for him. It must be a big season for Theo Walcott.

KEY MAN: Cesc Fabregas. A fabulous player who must score plenty of goals from midfield.

Well now - DO I AGREE WITH LAWRO?! Not really to be honest! Just becuase we’ve not spent millions this summer on overrated, overpaid players who are NEVER worth the money clubs have to fork out, doesn’t mean we have no strength in depth.

Just look at all the fuss when Henry left us for Barcelona! OK Henry was/is a great player, one of the greatest if not THE greatest player for Arsenal, but we still did OK without him didn’t we?

If we’d had luck on our side like the lucky, lucky Liverpool in the Champions League I’m convinced we’d have got to the final. Liverpool bascially rolled over and died at Stamford Bridge, what a waste!!!

And come to think of it if United hadn’t relied entirely on the goal scoring of one man, whose name I refuse to write on this web site, then their season would have been a very different one…

Just wait until Eduardo comes back, and until then we’ll have to put up with Adebayor, Theo Walcott, oh and that new Welsh lad, oh well!!…we’ll see.
