Did Arsenal Choose The Wrong Korean To Transfer?

6

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger announced infamously in the summer that the Gunners managed to make a striker transfer and then presented South Korean Chu-Young Park as being a great forward with huge potential.

Months have gone past, and even though everybody did expect the Korean to have a hard time adapting to the Premiership he is yet to have a line-up in a Premiership match, and we’re almost in January.

He played a few games with the team in the cups and even managed to score for the Gunners, but despite this he is still a substitute at best when it comes to Premiership games.

The question if Arsenal transferred the wrong Korean or not comes after Celtic’s midfielder Ki Sung-yueng managed to win the Best Footballer of the Year award in South Korea at only 22 years old.

Being a midfielder, the young star managed to score 6 goals already in the Scottish league in 24 appearances for Celtic. Now, why didn’t Wenger hustle to sign him having already seen the 2010-2011 season when he played almost every match for the Scots?

  1. my 1 legged gran could score a goal every 4 games in the spl. also park has been far more successful than this fella. unfortunately time is not on his side and the right thing to do would be to swap him with hazard and a bit of cash obviously

  2. Park should be given time that arsh’ gets or ox chamberlain but hopefully both will get time in jan RVP will need a rest soon & have players that’s ready to step up , up the gunners.

  3. Funny you guys still don’t realize, Park is only a marketing tool to raise shirt sales in Korea, not more. I even doubt Wenger is the one who choose to buy him, Park bought by Kroenke, for the marketing reason above.

  4. He has looked better than Chamakh everytime he has played. I am sure he will impress when he gets game time.

  5. Park can’t be that bad if he scores for country nearly most games steph but do agree his also been brought for the Asian market too he aint no crap player but could have made a mistake as his doing the army in a year or 2 .
