Even with Shakhtar Donetsk’s high asking price and Chelsea’s entry into the race, not many Gunners would be content with Arsenal simply giving up on signing Ukrainian Neymar, who has been courting them in recent months.

William Gallas, on the other hand, has hinted that Arsenal would be better off foregoing a move for Mudryk because he doesn’t know if they need him and believes Nketiah will perform well going forward. “I don’t know if Arsenal need Mykhaylo Mudryk for the second part of the season. Maybe they do,” Gallas told Getting Casino.

“As I said, the season is very long. But at the same time, Arteta has his squad already, players on the bench, players who can come on and play in that position like Nketiah.

“It’s really difficult to get an answer to that question because I’m not there and I don’t know what is going down. So if they sign him, they know why.

“I’m sure Mudryk is a great player who can help the squad. So if that player can help them to win the title, then they should buy him.”

Reading what Gallas has to say, I understand why some may be confused, but at the end of the day, the question he may be indirectly asking is, “Does Arsenal need Mudryk, or is he just a player they want but don’t need?”
