After the latest speculation regarding Arsenal’s transfer of Liverpool and Uruguay international striker Luis Suarez was made publicly aware, I honestly couldn’t help but put my head into my hands. The same happens to us every single year; we blow away our targets to focus on one main man. The man who can ‘save our season’, but as always we fail in our approach, we fail in the transfer window, we fail in the season.

It’s simple; it’s clear and most of all its obvious to everyone on how humiliating the whole scenario is. Everyone can see the way forward and knows the answer, except for the men that can actually make the difference happen – The Arsenal management team.

Back onto the topic of Luis Suarez and if you weren’t aware the latest ‘quotes’ are that he has told a reporter that he will stay at Liverpool for the season ahead. A Uruguayan reporter who has closely followed the Uruguayan national team and therefore Luis Suarez broke the bad news.

He tweeted, “Luis Suarez confirms to me he will not leave Liverpool. The support of the fans has influenced his decision. Suarez sees it as likely that he’ll sign a renewal (extension) to the contract that binds him to Liverpool.”

Now these quotes haven’t been confirmed by Suarez and by the fact he refused to comment on his future whilst away on international duty, I find it difficult to believe this but then a quick rush of blood made me think, this could be a blessing in disguise.

Firstly don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to see a big name player like Luis Suarez line up at the Emirates. However that no longer seems to be happening and with time running out there is a certain air of desperation. By not signing Suarez that means we have an extra £50m to spend. We know that £17m is supposedly coming out of the £70m for Gustavo, therefore leaving us with £53m. Our squad is desperately thin, so thin in fact that there is no way we would be able to go through the whole season without having to call up at least a few reserve players from time to time and at a big club that shouldn’t be happening!

So £53 million can easily be split up. The wages have been covered by the outgoing transfers so no need to worry about that. On which players do you spend the remaining £53m? For me it’s a goalkeeper, versatile defender and a striker. It sounds easy enough but in reality we all know it probably isn’t. But that aside, I’m interested to know if you think that it would actually be better for us to get Suarez and Gustavo for the £70m or Gustavo and 3-4 more players? In my opinion the second option is the no brainer.

  1. Arsenal has more money than £70m from the sale of Gervinho, Mannonea, Santos, that is around £80m, plus they are free from the salaries of Gervinho (Roma, £8m), Vito Mannone (Sunderland, £1.5m), Martin Angha (FC Nuremburg, Undisclosed), Marouane Chamakh (Crystal Palace, Undisclosed).
Andre Santos (Flamengo, Undisclosed), Andrei Arshavin (Zenit St Petersburg, Free), Denilson (Sao Paulo, Free), Craig Eastmond (Colchester, Free), Kyle Ebecilio (FC Twente, Free), Jernade Meade (Swansea City, Free), Elton Monteiro (Club Brugge, Free), Philip Roberts (Falkirk, Free), Reice Charles-Cook (Bury, Free), Sébastien Squillaci (Bastia, Free), Sanchez Watt (Colchester, Free), Jordan Wynter (Bristol City, Free), Chuks Aneke (Crewe, Loan), Joel Campbell (Olympiacos, Loan), Francis Coquelin (Frieburg, Loan), Johan Djourou (Hamburg, Loan), Ignasi Miquel (Leicester, Loan),
It’s about £600k per a week, thats £30m more for year, thats £110m more for transfers, where is new player? This is 4th the richest football
    club.

  2. Suarez a proven scorer is always better than 4 -5 players with no credibility and who can flop. Just my opinion.
