If this does happen it will make Arsenal the biggest spending football club in history on a single transfer. It would also make us the proud owner of one 18-year old French forward who many in the football world feel could be as good a striker as the former Gunner and club record goal scorer Thierry Henry.

Arsenal may well have beaten the likes of Real Madrid to the signing of Kylian Mbappe with a combination of the ability to guarantee the young player the regular game time that the Spanish champions could not, along with the not inconsiderable outlay of around £125 million, which is what The Mirror says we are offering to pay the forward’s current club AS Monaco.

This is still just a rumour but with Metro reporting comments from the Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim which strongly suggest that his prize asset is set to leave the French club, we do have more reason than ever to believe the rumour could be true.

If it is it will rock the English Premier League and the football world in general and will surely give our manager Arsene Wenger some real breathing space from the frustration of the Arsenal fans.
