Before the closure of the transfer window and even before the madness of transfer deadline day, you would have thought that possibly Arsenal’s strongest position on the pitch was in midfield. However come to the current moment and we now have another two midfield options in Ozil and Flamini and suddenly our midfield looks packed full of talent.

The additions of Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini means we now have a wide selection of midfielders to choose from and ultimately we only have three available spaces. Assuming Santi Cazorla will now take up a permanent position outside on the wing rather than down the middle in centre attacking midfield, that opens up the spot for club record breaking transfer deal Mesut Ozil.

And then with the other two more defensive roles in midfield likely to be filled with two of Wilshere, Ramsey and Arteta, with Flamini and one of those on the bench, you have to wonder where an earth Tomas Rosicky is going to fit in?!

First of all, I have always felt since the end of last season that this season is going to be Rosicky’s last with the Gunners. Many have suggested that he should be kept on as one of our more experienced players and that he should retire at Arsenal. However I wouldn’t be surprised to see the man from the Czech Republic shown out the door this time next summer. But of course that’s all up to debate and although I don’t necessarily believe that this should be Rosicky’s path, I just find it difficult to see his future role under the circumstances we currently find ourselves in.

Rosicky is likely to still feature on the bench however, with Ozil and now arguably Cazorla ahead of him, it makes the 33 year old third choice for the Gunners and a spell on the sidelines, either through injury or just the fact he isn’t being played could see a sudden drop in his performance levels.

Personally I think Rosicky is a fantastic player and for the last two seasons he has arguably been our main man in the run in for fourth place however this year with such a midfield packed full with talent, I just can’t see Rosicky getting as much game time!

  1. I think Ramsey will more likely play holding midfielder from now on, with Cazorla on the wing, so that only leaves Ozil and Jack in front of Thomas, so I don’t think he needs to worry.

Wenger has said he wants him to end his career at the club

  2. To be honest, No. Completely and utterly finished. No offence intended but he seem to be surplus to requirement unless Wenger can invest his new role.Ramsey and Wilshere will have to adapt but Mozzart no more.

  3. What? You expect player to be loyal to arsenal. But we easily forget the loyalty to the player. For me arsenal should extend rosicky contract. He is perfect. Experienced, technically gifted, versatile and i believe he doesn’t mind to play with limited minute. And with our injury record. We need someone who can fit into the team quickly.

  4. Rosicky is a world class player, the thought of selling him shouldn’t even get into your mind. He can change the game for you within a spun of 5 mins plus he’s versatile. Yes, there’s a role for Rosicky, he can come in for the last 10-15 mins.

  5. I think we still need rosicky in the team, experience, spirited, he has it, that’a a quality we can’t just leave out in him. Pls off topic, i love gaining more gunners as friend, you can kindly follow me on twitter @shellykeen. And i promise you get a follow back. Love you all

  6. The way people easily underate Rosicky is alarming. He is one of the main reasons we did well ending of last season into this new season. He is ahead of Jack with no sentiments @all. I just don’t why most of our fans are too sentimental; just imagine people still saying d@ Jack is better than Ramsey. Well I guess Wenger is seeing the fact now…
