Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board will be hoping to get their transfer business done and dusted nice and early this summer, in order to avoid any panic buying towards the closing of the window. It will also give the Frenchman abd his coaching staff plenty of time to get the new players and the current squad settled in and working well together as a team.

The Italian champions Juventus, however, are making things difficult and threatening to seriously undermine Wenger’s plans. This may be punishment for sending Nicklas Bendtner to Turin, so I suppose you cannot blame them, but they are being linked with both of the strikers that Wenger apparently want. They may only want either Stevan Jovetic or Gonzalo Higuain, but the club’s general director has mentioned both publicly.

“Jovetic and Higuain are both great strikers,” said Giuseppe Marotta.

“We want to improve the playing staff available to Antonio Conte in the summer, so we are exploring various options at the moment.”

The problem for Arsenal is, that Real Madrid and Fiorentina now know that there is competition for Arsenal in our pursuit of these players, making it much harder for Wenger to cut a deal and save as much of the transfer budget for more signings. Juventus seem to be in no rush, so Wenger will either have to bide his time as well, look for other players, or pay over the odds to get the deal done. I have seen Jovetic now valued at £30 million, which is about 50 percent more than he is worth and I’m sure that Wenger will not pay that. What do you think?
