Kane starts but negative Spurs hope to frustrate Arsenal

In some ways I think that Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal players will be pleasantly surprised to see the Tottenham team sheet for today’s north London derby at the Emirates stadium. On the other hand, the negative and defensive team that Mauricio Pochettino has selected could end up being very hard to break down and is aimed at frustrating us, like the famous bus parking tactics of Jose Mourinho.

The good news for the Gunners is that there is no Dele Alli and no Sissoko for us to worry about and with Kane just back after a fair spell on the sidelines with injury their main goal threat is likely to be a bit rusty. They also have Son and Erikssen but Arsenal have a full strength back four and with Coquelin in front of them we should not be overly tested at the back.

The fact that the Spurs boss has gone for three spoilers in midfield, Wanyama, Dier and Dembele, tells you everything you need to know about their tactics. After their recent run they will be delighted with a point but will hope to snatch a winner on the break.

So if Arsenal do fins them a tough but to crack and do not get an early goal, we must be patient. Arsenal should win this game but in the grand scheme of things a point would not be a bad result.
