Lazio Make Inquiry As Arsenal Attempt To Shake Top Flop

Arsenal’s Russian star Andrey Arshavin might be in for a January transfer if Wenger will play his cards right, but with Chamakh and Gervinho already gone for the African National Cup, the Frenchman must first make sure he still has options to replace the winger.

30-year-old Arshavin is now wanted by Italian side Lazio who need a replacement for Frenchman Cisse who proved to be a flop this season, and Wenger admits that it may be the Russian’s time to go.

“He is a bit older than Van Persie,” said the Frenchman. “Sometimes the visual impression you get from a game has been frustrating, but he is very efficient. We can all have big responsibility but we need confidence for what we do.”

The Russian star signed with Arsenal 3 years ago and still has a contract going until the end of 2013, but is sure to depart until next summer after a less than amazing period at the club.

The winger couldn’t find the form which brought him to the Emirates Stadium and is now highly likely to be let go and replaced with a younger version of himself Alan Dzagoev whom Arsenal have been watching for quite a while.

  1. Part of Arsenal’s problem is that they do not recognize when to cut their losses. Arshavin will never be the player he once was, due to his age if nothing else. You can see him huffing and puffing after some of his runs.
So I think it is time to sell him and move on. Nobody will pay 15 million for him.
