Liverpool to rival Arsenal for Belhanda

Arsenal target Younes Belhanda’s excellent performances throughout the season for Ligue 1 leaders Montpellier attracted a lot of positive remarks from big clubs, and now it seems that Arsenal will have to deal with competitors in their attempt to land the midfielder.

At 22 years of age, Belhanda was one of the main men at Montpellier as the club is about the win their first title since 1987. This promoted the Moroccan midfielder in Wenger’s transfer shortlist, and the French manager went so far to offer a few remarks regarding the attacking midfielder, expressing his admiration.

Belhanda was quick to reply as he said that it’s an honor for him to be considered by Wenger and stating his interest in joining Arsenal, but now it seems that the deal is not that close to completion as Liverpool are hot on the trail of the 22-year-old.

Kenny Dalglish is looking to splash some cash again in the summer in the attempt to finally bring Liverpool back into the spotlight after a very negative period. Montpellier are surely about to lose the midfielder, but it’s still a question of where Belhanda will choose to go as a few clubs are due to fight for the £10 million rated midfielder.
