Man United aiming to hijack Arsenal’s top target

Manchester United are reportedly claimed to be keen on signing Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who Arsenal have been linked with since the end of the season.

The midfielder has been hugely impressive in the last 12 months, scoring 23 competitive goals and assisting 30 more.

He has since refused to sign a new contract with Dortmund, and is firmly expected to leave the club this summer, with his club believed to be ready to listen to offers.

Arsenal and Chelsea were previously said to be battling it out for his signature, but now it is Manchester United who are claimed to be making their own move to sign the goalscorer.

Jose Mourinho has already moved to agree a deal to sign Eric Bailly from Villareal this month, and is readily expected to bring in a number of other stars in the close-season.

The Portuguese boss will prove strong in the transfer market, but should we match their offer, the fact that we have Champions League football and they don’t will hopefully prove vital.

United only managed to finish in fifth place in the Premier League under Louis Van Gaal, and will only have Europa League football to offer the Armenian, but they are known to be more willing to splash the cash on wages and fees than we have been previously.

Arsene Wenger is into the last year of his contract, and is thought to be stepping up his game in the current transfer window, and it would be a huge statement if he was able to beat the Red Devils to sign Mkhitaryan.

Could we persuade the Dortmund star to snub Man United?
