I definitely think that Arsene Wenger has done the right thing with the latest Arsenal transfer news, bringing in the 25-year old David Ospina from the French club Nice. The Colombia international was one of the outstanding performers between the sticks at the World Cup finals, not just with eye catching saves, but a great all round game.

There were Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with a possible free move for the Spain and Real Madrid star Iker Casillas, but the Madrid captain apparently wanted around £100,000 a week. And looking at the stats comparison on Squawka.com between them, Wenger certainly made the right choice. In fact, not only does Ospina come out better than Casillas, he beats our own Wojciech Szczesny as well.

I used the stats from last season for Szczesny and Ospina, but the season before for Casillas because he hardly played in La Liga last season. Their total scores were; Ospina 29.00, Szczesny 22.82 and Casillas 19.50. Then you can break it down into individual stats like distribution, goals conceded, saves per game and things like that. Ospina still comes out even or better in most of them, so it looks like Wenger has got himself a real talent.

As long as the Colombian can adapt to the English game quickly, I would not be surprised to see him playing instead of Szczesny in the Premier League soon.
