The Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has also confirmed Wenger’s statements that there has been no deal made between the Gunners and the German striker yet.
The German newspapers have been going crazy this week saying that Koln’s striker has already accepted a deal on personal terms with the Gunners, but according to both the striker and Wenger a deal is a long way from being struck.
“Contrary to the reports of the past few days, nothing has been decided yet,” Podolski told German Sky Sports.
“If there is something to report, I’ll let you know.”
The French manager spoke about his interest in transferring the German and also spoke about the striker’s skills, but according to him the deal is still at the drawing board. Wenger declared that he is expecting something to change in the next few weeks, so perhaps the Gunners will manage to transfer a player very early this time around.
Podolski’s move might be influenced by Arsenal’s center-back Per Mertesacker who has admitted that he spoke with Podolski about this and according to the giant German a move would be ideal for his national team colleague.
