I know that there are quite a lot of Arsenal fans who thought that the Porto and Colombia striker Jackson Martinez was an ideal player for Arsene Wenger to target in the summer transfer window. The football media certainly talked up the potential move as there have been lots of Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with the prolific front man.

Over 30 goals a season over the last three years certainly seemed to make him a good alternative to our French centre forward Olivier Giroud, but now The Mirror has reported that the Gunners have been snubbed by Martinez and he has accepted a move to play in La Liga for Atletico Madrid.

This winds me up because we heard last week that the striker had spoken warmly about Arsenal and playing in the Premier League and we could certainly compete with the Spanish club on transfer fee and wages. So he has not `snubbed´ us, it is just that Wenger has decided not to sign him.
