Aaron Ramsey was not saying that Arsenal completely outplayed the Chelsea side of Jose Mourinho or that we definitely deserved to win yesterday, but the Welshman does believe that the Gunners edged the game and probably did enough to take all three points.

As reported on the Arsenal website, Ramsey reckons there were plenty of positives for Arsenal to take from the hard fought goalless draw with the champions elect, such as the likelihood that we will improve our finishing position in the Premier League this season, hopefully with another FA cup trophy to go with it.

Although he was impressed with Chelsea´s defending and organisation, it is clear that he felt we were a bit unlucky in that the many opportunities the Gunners created did not have the rub of the green or simply fell to the wrong players, like Per Mertesacker who put a great chance wide. That is why the midfielder believes that on another day we would have won the game.

Ramsey said, “I think so. We created a few chances, got into some dangerous areas but didn’t quite take the opportunities when we did get in there. They were very well organised and were happy with the point in the end.

“Probably this season they’ve done really well in the bigger games where they’ve kept their shape and frustrated teams like they did to us. On another day we may have scored a couple and won the game.

“I think so [Arsenal have improved]. It’s going to be quite difficult for Chelsea to drop the points that we need to go top. Second probably is progression from last season definitely and from a couple of seasons where we have been battling for fourth. We’re in another FA Cup final so maybe you can say that’s an improvement on last season.

“Full credit to them, they defended well. They came here not to lose the game and they did that.

“A chance fell to Mertesacker which he put wide and the ball went through Mesut’s legs after. Little things like that where on a different day they might have dropped straight into one of our paths and we would have been celebrating a victory. It wasn’t to be. They defended really well and we can take some positives out of that.”

I cannot disagree with him even if I was gutted that we could not get that long awaited win over Mourinho. We WILL get him next season though, won´t we Arsenal fans?
