Serge Aurier wants to come and play for Arsenal so badly he can taste it. If his posting pictures of himself in an Arsenal shirt did not make it clear enough to Arsene Wenger and his coaching staff, the Ivorian international right back has made another statement to leave the Gunners in no doubt.
The 21-year old defender was speaking about his future, as reported by Talksport, after celebrating his inclusion if the French Ligue 1 team of the season, alongside the likes of Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovich. He is well aware that his performances for Toulouse, with six goals coming from his 34 starts, have attracted interest from around Europe, but he seems to have his heart set on England and the Premier League. And there is no doubt that Arsenal are the club he is really waiting for.
Aurier said, “I’ve never prioritised a club in England as even the promoted clubs are respectable.
“I will privilege the one that will show the most interest in me, that will give me the most game time. After that, you can’t really say ‘no’ to Arsenal.
“It’s a club with history, with a French manager, who has welcomed many French players. Arsenal are always thereabouts when it comes to trophies and a club that plays in the Champions League.”
Arsene Wenger is said to be very impressed with the talented young defender and has put him on the list of transfer targets. But until our French international Bacary Sagna decides once and for all whether he is moving on from Arsenal, his hands are tied.
It is clear that Aurier wants to play in the BPL, so we need to be aware that another English club could move first. And his £7 million price tag could soon rise if he performs well for Ivory Coast in Brazil this summer. Your move Arsene…
