If the Arsenal transfer rumours last summer were anything to go by, Arsene Wenger would already have signed the Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain. It was claimed that an agreement was in place between him and the Gunners but it was hijacked at the last minute when Napoli offered Real Madrid more than we were apparently willing to pay.

But the transfer of the star striker to north London could finally be set to happen, according to a Metro report. The paper claims that the Arsenal boss is determined to finally get his man and is ready with a huge offer to convince his Serie A club to sell.

Higuain has apparently moved to the top of our transfer list after the former Napoli striker Edinson Cavani was ruled out by his current club PSG. And if the rumours about our interest in Higuain is true, surely he would be keen as Rafa Benitez has failed to turn Napoli into real competition for Juventus and have dropped out of the Champions League.

Is Higuain finally set to become an Arsenal player and if so, whose place is most at risk, Welbeck or Giroud?
