Sessegnon a live alternative to M’Vila for Arsenal?

Arsenal are fairly confident of securing the signature of Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila but have yet to seal the deal. Other targets on Wenger’s radar as possible backups are Jan Vertonghen from Ajax and Lucas Biglia from the Belgian side Anderlecht.

According to the free sports picks, Vertonghen and Biglia look likely to sign for Spurs and Real Madrid respectively, though, leaving Wenger and Arsenal with few more choices in the transfer market.

Reports by Talksport today suggest that Arsene could have someone else in mind, namely Sunderland’s attacking midfielder Stephane Sessegnon. The 27-year old Benin international only joined the Black Cats last summer from Paris Saint-Germain and still has two years left to run on his contract with Martin O’Neill’s side. He would still come cheper than M’Vila who is reckoned to be about £17 million while Sessegnon could cost significantly less.

Then Sunderland manager Steve Bruce described Sessegnon as “a little powerhouse with a low centre of gravity, some great dribbling skills and a great shot.” He has settled well into the Premier league, scoring 10 goals in his 41 games for the club and Sunderland would be loath to see him leave. Hopefully Arsenal will confirm the signing of M’Vila soon, but if not Sessegnon could be the next option.

There have been reports that Sessegnon is looking to move to a club closer to France so he can regularly visit his family in France. The Eurostar is only just down the road from Arsenal’s ground…..
