Amid rumours which were linking him to a move to English giants Arsenal, Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez has snubbed the possibility to leave Belgium during the January transfer market window.

Arsenal are still in need of a striker even though Frenchman Thierry Henry was brought back to the club for a very short loan spell which will run out in February.

“I want to, at the very least, finish the job that I started and that is helping the team to win the title, which is what everyone deserves,” Suarez said in De Standaard.

“I don’t know where the story has come from that I will be joining Arsenal this winter, but I can formally deny it.

“My bosses are well aware of what I want and that is to stay at Anderlecht for now. I’m still learning and that’s another reason why I don’t want to leave.”

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger might be in for a new signing, but if he wants that to happen he will have to move fast as January is going by, and we’re almost done with the first half of the transfer window. The Gunners are being rumored to be in for a striker and a full-back on the transfer market, but no official news as of yet.

But it is now looking like Wenger is going to rely on Chamakh (and maybe Park) to cover for Van Persie for the rest of the season, and then Suarez will join Arsenal in the summer.
