Not only is it looking like Arsenal will be battling with Manchester United until the end of the season for a top four finish in the Premier League, but the football fates have matched the Gunners up with our old enemy for a place in the FA cup semi-finals.

But there is no fear in the Arsenal camp about the upcoming clash at Old Trafford, if the recent comments by our French international centre forward Olivier Giroud are anything to go by. The 28-year old was understandably in a buoyant mood after scoring both goals against Middlesborough to get the Gunners into the quarter-final but that is not the reason he is so confident about Arsenal’s chances in the cup and league.

As reported by the Daily Star, the big striker feels that the squad is packed with attacking talent and with lots of different options, like the pace of Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, the talent and determination of Alexis Sanchez and the creative ability of Ozil and Cazorla.

Giroud said, “We have plenty of solutions up front. We are all different, so it’s nice.

“We can find each other really well on the pitch and what’s most important is to keep this movement and this variation in the game.

“It’s a pleasure to play with the boys and I think we are really strong offensively.

“[We need to] do a great job together defensively as a unit, like we showed at Manchester City, it’s a good idea to do it again and again, especially against big teams.

“We need to be focused on our defensive game, because we know that up front we are always going to create chances to score.

“I’ve scored seven goals in my last 10 appearances, so it’s a good stat for me.

“I feel good and my confidence is high. I want to help the team to win more games and to achieve our targets.”

That defensive strength that Giroud is calling for now seems to be there, with Francis Coquelin continuing to shine in defensive midfield and Gabriel looking the real deal on his debut. So watch out Man United, the Gunners are coming to get you!
