John Hartson has claimed that Arsenal are set to spend heavily this summer, so we thought we’d take a brief look into the latest speculation surrounding the club.
The former Arsenal striker claimed that Wenger knows that his time is running out to add any more Premier League titles to his record, and will invest in the close-season in order to try and achieve that.
One regular transfer target whose name gets brought up every summer is Karim Benzema, and this year will be no different. His club Real Madrid are being linked with a move to sign either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Robert Lewandowski, which is said to free up the Frenchman’s signature, and of course, we are lining up a deal… Unfortunately we all know that Wenger is more likely to milk a Bingo bonus then splash the cash on this necessary addition. ...........Read more
So there were no players available in the summer transfer window that would improve Arsenal? Is that what you are telling us Arsene Wenger? I wonder just how hard he really tried because with the amount of money that the Gunners have salted away I would think we would be able to sign just about anyone if we really wanted.
The Arsenal website has published the club’s financial report from the 2014-15 financial year and they make interesting reading. As well as a rise in profit and turnover, Arsenal added about £20 million to the cash reserves and that means there is nearly £200 million in the bank and that is separate to the money that is kept by as security on our debt. ...........Read more
If only this latest Arsenal transfer rumour came true, it would be the best bit of news for Arsenal for a long time. Just when all the Arsenal fans were resigned to the fact the France international striker Karim Benzema would not be signing for us this summer, the door might be open again.
This is because, as revealed in a Metro report, the Frenchman’s current club Real Madrid are apparently trying to sort out the transfer of the Poland international star Robert Lewandowski. ...........Read more
Reading between the lines, it looks like the Arsenal manager was still hoping that the France international striker Karim Benzema might still be available from Real Madrid, but now that the player himself has poured cold water on those hopes, Arsene Wenger has just a few days to sign a striker that everyone seems to think we need.
But there are not that many out there and the ones that are good enough to really improve our squad are not easy to get. Most are just about impossible, especially at this phase of the transfer window, but apparently there is a chance that PSG might accept a good offer for Edinson Cavani. ...........Read more
Even if the latest Arsenal transfer rumours are true, it does not mean that the Gunners will be successful. But this would be a fantastic double signing from the French champions Paris Saint-Germain if Arsene Wenger could get the deal done.
According to a Metro report, the two PSG players that the Arsenal boss wants and will try to sign before the transfer window closes, is their centre forward Edinson Cavani and their central midfielder Adrien Rabiot. That would hopefully solve the main two problems in the Arsenal squad and give us all a huge boost as the Premier League season heats up. ...........Read more
Arsenal may be struggling to get the transfer of the France international striker Karim Benzema done, although there is still time and apparently a realistic chance that we might get him just before the summer transfer window closes, but his club team mate is a different matter.
You might not have heard of Dennis Cheryshev, because he has not played a single La Liga game for the Spanish club despite having been on their books since 2002. But he is only 24-years old and was very successful for their B team and for Villarreal last season where he was on loan. ...........Read more
This transfer to Arsenal could only go through if the current club of Karim Benzema were happy to let the striker leave. But that is what the noises coming from Spain and Real Madrid are saying, according to a Metro report.
Arsenal have done business with the Spanish giants before, when Arsene Wenger smashed the club transfer record to sign the German creative midfielder Mesut Ozil. Madrid were willing to sell then because they were signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham and they needed to make room and maybe that is the same situation this summer. ...........Read more
Arsenal were linked with a whole host of players over the course of the summer including several strikers. This included the likes of Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez, which according to reports over the summer were deals that Arsenal would have been capable of pulling off. The Gunners were also linked with Karim Benzema, a former teammate of current Arsenal starlet Mesut Ozil, but that was another move that never materialised.
One man that seemingly managed to escape Arsene Wenger’s eyeline is Borussia Dortmund and Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski; however after a good game against Arsenal in midweek, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the clubs interest pick up in the near future. ...........Read more
Arsenal spent a long time during the summer transfer window trying to secure a deal for a top quality striker, however largely failed down to the high demands both from players and clubs respectively. It wasn’t all bad news as Arsenal didn’t walk away empty handed, managing to secure the signing of Mesut Ozil, however despite the fantastic news, many were still of course left disappointed that we didn’t sign a striker. ...........Read more
It’s now exactly a week since transfer window deadline day for the summer of 2013 and although club record signing Mesut Ozil hadn’t been announced at this time last week, the deal was already very clear in the frame and close to completion.
At the same time Arsenal were still being linked with Ozil’s now ex-teammate Angel Di Maria, who was believed to also have an offer on the table from Arsenal. However several pieces of information piece together a picture that suggests Madrid chose to keep Di Maria over Ozil. But after recognising they may have made the wrong decision, there are continued suggestions that Wenger may return for the Argentinean frontman either this January or next summer.
Ex-Gunner Ray Parlour is also confident that the signing of Mesut Ozil could see more Real Madrid players join the German international midfielder at the Emirates. ...........Read more
